About Us

E3K shaping ideas since 2001

WHO WE ARE

E3K is a client-focused mechanical engineering firm with two decades of experience serving a diverse range of industries including government, manufacturing, energy, transportation, aerospace, mining, and more. The company prioritizes client needs and satisfaction.

E3K was established in 2001 by Dr Duncan Gilmore. In 1986 Ducan founded Gilmore Engineers. The parent company, Gilmore Engineers, has a strong reputation in the field of Expert Witness & Failure Analysis. E3K builds on that success, focusing on product design and optimization to provide even more value to clients.

WHAT WE DO

E3K offers engineering expertise, including design/development and testing, from concept to completion. We provide support at any stage of the development process, ranging from idea inception to design checks, computer simulation, and 3D printing of physical prototypes.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) can help you know the strength of your design. Will it pass a required load test? Will it have the required service life? Is it flexible or rigid enough? Can it be made lighter while still maintaining the required strength?

Mining Services As specialist mechanical engineers, we conduct studies in a variety of applications, from efficiency maximisation and failure analysis to design auditing and capital equipment reporting.

E3K began 3D Printing parts for clients long before owning the technology. Over time, the company discovered an increasing number of uses for 3D printing, including creating prototypes during the design process for client review. If you have a design that you need printing, E3K is equipped to deliver.

Meet Our Team

Dr Duncan Gilmore

B.E. (Mech), M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D, RPEQ, FIEAust, FSAEA, CPEng, MASME
Founder

Duncan is the Founding Director  of Gilmore Engineers Pty Ltd | E3K, Development and Commercialisation Specialists, New Product Research and the Bright Devices Group Pty Ltd.

In 1972 Duncan received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree with First Class Honours. He also received The University Medal. In 1975 he completed a Master of Engineering Science degree, and in 1977 a Ph.D degree. All from the University of Queensland. His focus during his postgraduate research was centered around the instrumentation of two-phase gas-liquid flows. Additionally, he explored the application of hot-wire anemometry in investigating non-isothermal turbulent fluid flows. This technology played a pivotal role in establishing the experimental benchmarks for computerized computational fluid dynamics software development during the decades of the 1970s and 1980s.
